Hadi Saei won the first bronze medal for Iran in the
Olympic Taekwondo competitions in Sydney on Thursday.
After losing to his South Korean opponent in a match that
left Saei complaining to the referees, he passed his
Australian and Austrian opponents to win the medal.
Saei, who competed with 13 opponents in the first ever
official Olympic Taekwondo competitions, said that had an
unbiased referee judged his match against his South Korean
opponent he would have most certainly won and probably even
achieved the gold medal.
Saei's bronze medal follows our two gold medals in
weightlifting by Hossein Tavakoli and Hossein Rezazadeh which
brings the Iranian sports convoy ranking to 28th.
